Welcome back to school! This week we worked on learning each other's names and practicing classroom and school routines. Next week we begin our first academic units. Way to go, first graders!
Woohoo! We made it through the first week of first grade math! In our first Eureka Math module, we will work on sorting and counting.
At home, you can support your child by encouraging them to practice counting forward and sorting everyday objects (like toys or snacks) into groups of 1-10.
English (ELA): This week in English class we started Unit 1 in our English phonics curriculum (UFLI) and practiced the alphabet. At home, you can discuss goals with your first grader, like: "What do they want to accomplish?" or "How can they make bilingualism their superpower?"
Spanish (SLA): In Spanish class we began learning about maps. We enjoyed reading, discussing, and writing in response to the question: "What does a map of my house look like?" At home, you can talk about the activities you like to do as a family and about where those activities take place.
