Welcome back! This week, we will be revisiting counting on and counting back from a number using a number path. At home, have your kiddo draw a number path from 1-20 and have them create their own addition and subtraction problems to solve. Students will also learn about tens and ones.

This week, we are launching Unit 3: Family Stories in both English and Spanish. Students will explore stories about families and traditions while learning to tell the difference between fiction and nonfiction. In ELA, students will read We Are in a Book! by Mo Willems, Elephants Do Not Belong in Trees by Russ Willms, and Elephants (National Geographic Reader), compare texts, and review vowel sounds during phonics. In Spanish, students will read Xóchitl, la niña de las flores and Familias diferentes, focusing on comprehension and discussing how families can be the same and different. This week, students will also complete their MOY SLA i-Ready assessment.

As part of this unit, we are looking for families who are interested in sharing about their family traditions with the class. If you would like to participate, please message your child’s homeroom teacher.
