In math, we will continue to work on identifying part-part-whole relationships. At home, have your kiddo solve addition problems to find for the total unknown as well as unknown part. For example, give them an equation like 8+2=__ for unknown total and 6+__=10 for unknown part.
We have finished the reading assessments and we remain very excited about learning about maps of our world. In phonics, this week we focused on reading and writing words with diphthongs. We will also read and discuss texts to answer the question: What does a map of my country look like? Practice reading, breaking apart, and writing words with diphthongs such as: cielo (cie-lo), lluvia, afuera, pueblo, ruido, and ciudad. Read for 20 minutes and ask your child questions about the reading.
We are continuing our first unit on maps. Our focus question for this week is "How do I use a map of my country to explore different landmarks?" We will be discussing vocabulary such as: modes of transportation and landmarks. Discuss what landmarks you see in Washington DC or near your house.
